Tennessee Sports Betting
The online gambling landscape in the US has seen quite a few changes recently, including the legalization of online gambling in multiple states, as well as several attempts to pass online gambling legislation on a federal level, which at the time of the writing of this content, is yet to be successful. At least they are trying, right?
For those players who are interested in Tennessee online sports betting, we’re sorry to inform you that Tennessee was not one of the states which has moved forward to provide legal online gambling options which are regulated by the state. With Tennessee’s strong anti-gambling stance, we are not sure they will come around any time soon, despite the potential financial benefits to the state budget.
Many sports bettors are unclear about the legality of Tennessee online sports betting, partially because of the state laws regarding land based gambling, and partially because of the confusion surrounding the UIGEA. The intent of this guide is to provide some clarification for you when it comes to legal Tennessee online sports betting, and to provide you with enough data to be able to make an informed decision that is right for you.

Is Online Sports Betting Legal In Tennessee As Of 2024?
There is no easy answer to this question. The gambling laws in the state of Tennessee do not address online gambling specifically. The state statutes do outlaw land based gambling within state borders quite strictly with the exception of the Tennessee Lottery. While gambling is frowned upon by the state, there are no state statutes specifically outlawing Internet gambling. Tennessee has also made no effort to seek out those who participate in online sports betting, or address the matter in any way. There are no laws prohibiting Tennessee residents from participating in online sportsbook wagering.
The UIGEA bill that was passed in 2006 was directed at the online gambling sites and not players, and is designed to put regulation in place that governs how online gambling transactions are processed. It was passed to protect players and their investment, and hold gambling sites to high standards and stringent regulation, which is what you want when it comes to how your funds will be handled. At this time, there are several legal, high quality online sportsbooks which accept US players, including those from Tennessee. Players from all states can legally participate in sports betting at these sites
This information will put many players’ minds at ease and allow them to freely participate in legal Tennessee online sports betting, including Tennessee online football betting, while others will find the fact that the state does not address online gambling as their official stamp of disapproval and will not be willing to participate. It is up to you to determine which gambling options feel right to you and your circumstances.
If you find that online gambling is too risky with the current state of legalization, then perhaps sticking to land based gambling outside of Tennessee is your best option.
If you are comfortable with the fact that there are no laws prohibiting you from participating in online sportsbook wagering, then we urge you to selectively choose where you will play. The sportsbooks you see featured below have all been vetted through our extensive review process to verify their legitimacy within the industry.
What We Look For In Tennessee Online Sports Betting Sites
Not all online sports betting sites which accept players from Tennessee are worthy of your business. It is imperative that you are highly selective in the sportsbook brands you consider giving your business too. A flashy welcome bonus should not be the determining factor in your choice. We place security, licensing and compliance certification at the top of our ‘must have’ list for online sports betting, followed closely by reputation and performance. Any brand that we consider including on this page must be licensed by a legal and recognized governing jurisdiction. They must be tested and certified by independent third parties for compliance with fair gaming practices, and regulated by industry authorities within their respected jurisdiction.
Once we verify that they are legitimately licensed, we move on to evaluate their security protocols and features, comparing them with world class financial institutions. Brands which cannot measure up to these types of security standards are not considered for inclusion in our guide. We want to see high level solutions that include advanced data encryption and SSL coding, sophisticated anti-virus, firewalls, and fraud prevention technology and systems, as well as a highly trained technical staff to monitor it all.
As you can see we have some high standards when it comes to security, and not all online sportsbooks can measure up to this. We use this as a tool to eliminate those brands which we feel have not demonstrated enough commitment to raising the bar with safety measures.
After confirming that a brand is safe and sound, we move on to evaluate their user interface, selection of betting lines, variety of wagering options, bonuses, promotions and incentives, as well as the quality of their customer support and the efficiency of their banking suite. We review their reputation among players and industry professionals, and combine that with the information we gather from our own personal experience as registered players at their site.
It is at this point I feel compelled to admit that I’ve got an awesome job, tasked with reviewing legal Tennessee online sports betting sites. Who wouldn’t want this job? It has its share of detailed research and investigation, but eventually I get to the fun stuff where I get to actually participate in some wagering to evaluate their performance. While we do eliminate quite a few contenders during this process, we do find the absolute safest, most trusted online sportsbook brands that deliver an overall high quality online sports betting experience.

Betting Trends for Popular Tennessee Sports Teams
The Tennessee Titans
Since picking up Marcus Mariota in last year’s draft, most experts concluded that the Titans would be an improved team. However, it wasn’t until the Titans played Tampa Bay that people say just how improved they would be. Hanging 42 points on the Bucs with a perfect passer rating of 158.3, Mariota showed that he was deserving of the #2 pick last year, and the Titans ended up covering ATS (against the spread) with room to spare. They were 31 points over.
This is already shaping up to be a lot different than last year, when the Titans were actually 3-12-1 ATS. They were one of the worst teams on which to gamble all of last year, and the year before, and the year before that. They’ve been very bad for a really long time, actually going 1-11-1 after a loss last season and with their best betting category being 1-1 after a win.
Now, we don’t expect any miraculous turnaround here. Don’t expect that the Titans are going to suddenly go 14-2 ATS in the regular season alone. This is highly unlikely. However, we can see a solid 9-7 out of them this year. They have such a good offense that when they’re dogs, which will be often, they will be able to make a close game out of it and beat the spread.
The Tennessee Volunteers
The Volunteers play in the SEC East and thus have a pretty tough schedule to navigate every year. They haven’t really won much of anything since Peyton Manning was their QB in the later half of the ’90s, and since Florida, South Carolina, Missouri and Georgia came to power in the East, Tennessee has been the odd team out. They were hoping to change that this year, ranked in the top 25 and facing off against an opponent like Oklahoma. However, they have already lost a game and will probably end up losing about five more.
ATS last season, they were 7-6. This isn’t horrible, but it also isn’t good. If you bet on them to cover, you were barely better than 50%. And as far as trend predictions this season, we’re not really going to change it. We can see them repeating with a 7-6 performance. So if you’re in Tennessee and need a home team to bet on, you might want to go with the Titans in the NFL. They have a much better chance of winning you money than by going with the Volunteers.
The Memphis Grizzlies
In the Southwest division of the Western Conference, the Grizzlies are predicted to win and end up with a mid-level seed in the playoffs next season. They’re always getting to the playoffs and always competing, but they’re one of those teams that just can’t get over the hump. They also don’t do very well in betting. The Grizzlies are a grind-it-out team, so when they’re favorites they usually allow teams to cover. They do their best typically as underdogs. Last season, they were 14-11 as underdogs, meaning they beat the spread, not that they necessarily won. And for all games, they were 45-45-3.
You see, they can’t pull away when they win. They grind so much that they typically only win by a point or two. The good news, of course, is that they typically only lose by a point or two. Will that change next season? Probably not, if we’re truthful. They may bump it up to 55% percent or so ATS in total, but nothing that’s really worth betting on.
